Preston’s promotion hopes died some weeks ago, but other teams can celebrate going up this evening.
Luton Town and Barnsley have been promoted from League One tonight, with Portsmouth and Sunderland out of the running. Down in League Two, Bury have won promotion themselves.
Ryan Lowe has led his side to promotion, despite mounting financial issues at Gigg Lane. Tonight’s 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers was enough to take the Shakers up, and hopefully to better times financially.
James Norwood put Tranmere in front, but a second half equaliser from Danny Mayor secured promotion for Bury.

Yes, that’s the same Danny Mayor you may remember from Preston. The former North End winger has been a mainstay with Bury this term, hitting 12 goals and 11 assists.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
The 28-year-old, born in Leyland, has become one of the best players in League Two, and will now have another shot in League One.
He may not have fulfilled his potential at North End – and we can blame Graham Westley for that – but Mayor is carving out a decent Football League career for himself with the Shakers.
Now firmly entrenched as a hero after scoring the goal to win promotion, Mayor will be able to celebrate a superb season – and many at Preston will be wishing him continued success.
