Preston have finally completed the signing of Daniel Iversen, re-signing the Dane on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season.
North End took Iversen on loan in January following an injury to Declan Rudd.
It turned out that Preston had been chasing him for some time, and the pursuit was only backed up by goalkeeping coach Mike Pollitt, who worked with Iversen at Rotherham United.
Iversen quickly became a fan favourite with his superb performances, and Preston have been chasing his loan return all summer.
With Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward now back in training after their Euro 2020 commitments, Iversen has been given the green light to come back to Preston.
The 24-year-old will now stay until next summer, with Preston maybe holding out some hope of a permanent deal in the future.
For now, Iversen’s arrival – just days before the new season kicks off against Hull City – has given Frankie McAvoy a dilemma.

Declan Rudd would likely be Preston’s stopper if Iversen hadn’t returned, but Rudd may now find himself on the bench this weekend.
McAvoy has told Preston’s official website that he faces a ‘big, big choice’ against Hull because he now has a number of quality keepers at his disposal, praising Rudd as ‘excellent’ before his injury earlier this year.
“We’re just delighted to get him back in time for the first game, and it puts our goalkeeping department in a very competitive situation,” said McAvoy.
“Dec, before he got injured, was excellent and he’s done fantastically well in pre-season, so to have four good goalkeepers is excellent and I’ve got a big, big choice on Saturday and it’s one that I’m looking forward to. The most important thing is for them to learn and support each other, no matter who it is we pick,” he added.
