Preston brought in defender Matthew Olosunde this summer in order to solve the right back problem – but he is set to miss out on a home debut this weekend.

North End have brought back loanees Daniel Iversen, Sepp van den Berg and Liam Lindsay, adding only three ‘new’ faces alongside them.

There are concerns over the three when it comes to quick impacts though.

Izzy Brown is out until 2022 and latest signing Jamie Thomas will need to get up to speed given the increased intensity from non-league football to the Championship.

As for right back Olosunde, he only played 45 minutes in pre-season, with his one appearance coming in the first half at St Johnstone.

The American joined Preston on a free transfer from Rotherham United this summer, with real hopes of him being the answer to North End’s right back issues.

Unfortunately, Olosunde has been sidelined through injury for almost a month now, and won’t play against Hull.

Boss Frankie McAvoy has told Lancs Live that Olosunde’s injury isn’t a serious one, but it’s enough to keep him out of Saturday’s game.

“It is not a serious issue with Matthew, we just need to make sure we deal with it properly, so he will be a couple of weeks,” said McAvoy.
