Preston North End managed to salvage a point against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, with a late own goal handing Alex Neil a 2-2 draw.

It was another disappointing afternoon at Deepdale, as Preston’s home form continues to be an issue this season.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Preston also lost star man Ben Pearson to a first-half injury as he went over on his ankle.

The midfielder went down untouched in the first half, twisting his ankle as he controlled the ball in what looked like a nasty injury.

Pearson couldn’t even put any weight on his left ankle and had to be helped down the touchline, leaving Preston fans fearful.

Alex Neil has now suggested that Pearson has damaged ankle ligaments, and whilst there has been a predicted recovery time, Neil is reluctant to share it just in case it ends up being incorrect.

But for those wondering just how long it could be, it may be worth looking at Harry Kane’s history at Tottenham Hotspur.

He has often suffered ankle issues, and went down with ankle ligament damage in both 2016 and 2019, first for seven weeks and then around six weeks last year.

Kane’s history at Spurs offers something of a hint to how long Pearson could be out, as we may be looking at around six to eight weeks out for the midfielder, with his 2020 likely over.
