Preston have today confirmed the signing of Cardiff City defender Greg Cunningham, bringing him back to the club for a second spell.

North End look set to loan youngster Josh Earl out once again, and Preston have decided to bring Cunningham back to Deepdale.

Cunningham first joined North End back in 2015, and became a fan favourite following his superb form after his bargain move from Bristol City.

In 2018, Cunningham decided to leave in a £4million move to Cardiff City, but has failed to really make an impact with the Bluebirds and returns to Preston to try and play first-team football again.

The Irishman is an experienced addition at almost 30, and most Preston fans are delighted to see him return to the club.

In fact, one of Cunningham’s former Preston teammates has now joined in the reaction, with Jordan Hugill getting involved.

Hugill and Cunningham spent two-and-a-half years together at Preston, and left North End fans gutted when both left within a matter of months of each other back in 2018.

Hugill has now responded to Preston’s announcement of Cunningham’s return, simply stating ‘what a legend’ as the left back makes his return to Deepdale – and fans would no doubt love to see Hugill do the same!
