Preston midfielder Josh Harrop has today confirmed a new injury blow as North End’s 25-man squad decision looms.
Harrop has become something of a misfit at Deepdale, and hasn’t quite lived up to the hype since his 2017 move from Manchester United.
The 25-year-old has struggled to really nail down a starting role at Preston, and headed out on loan to Ipswich Town in January of this year.
That move didn’t really work out for Harrop, and he finds himself battling with a host of other players for the number 10 role.
Daniel Johnson, Alan Browne, Brad Potts and Jamie Thomas can all play there, and Harrop could find himself frozen out until January.
Preston soon have to name a 25-man squad, and with 29 senior pro’s – 28 if you factor in Izzy Brown’s major injury – Harrop is at risk of being left out.
We understand there was interest from Fleetwood Town over the summer, but no loan exit materialised for Harrop before the transfer deadline.
Harrop has now taken to Instagram to confirm an injury blow, stating ‘soon back, minor set back’.
It’s unclear just how long Harrop will be out for now, but it has come at the worst possible time as Preston prepare to leave some players out of the first-team squad.
