Preston lost midfielder Josh Brownhill to Bristol City five years ago, and his career could take another step forward with a move to Leeds United.
Brownhill, formerly of Manchester United, burst onto the scene in 2013, scoring at Gillingham on his first-team debut having been given a chance to shine by Simon Grayson.
The midfielder failed to kick on under Grayson though, and after a loan spell at Barnsley in 2016, he left the club at the end of his contract just a matter of months later.
Brownhill racked up more than 160 appearances for Bristol City, becoming one of the Championship’s top midfielders before joining Burnley in January 2020.
His performances for the Clarets have now attracted interest, with TEAMtalk claiming that Leeds United have made contact about a potential deal.
Burnley want around £15million for Brownhill, a far cry from the compensation Preston landed in 2016.

Brownhill always had potential, but his progress was somewhat stunted by the arrival and progress of Alan Browne.
Now potentially off to Elland Road in a big money move, Brownhill is far ahead of Browne at this stage, and Preston may have a tinge of regret at seeing Brownhill’s progress.
