Preston had two pieces of big news on Monday.
The first was that Frankie McAvoy is now North End’s manager on a full-time basis having impressed on an interim basis.
The second surrounded Paul Gallagher and his future, as he confirmed he is hanging up his boots.

Gallagher has called time on a professional career spanning around 20 years, and he will be best remembered for his time with North End.
The 36-year-old turned out 313 times for Preston across three loan spells and a six-year permanent stay, racking up 44 goals and 69 assists.
Gallagher is now giving up playing in favour of coaching, and will be first-team coach under McAvoy next season.

He has received messages from a number of players, and Liverpool defender Ben Davies took to Twitter to offer his thoughts.
Gallagher was a vital veteran presence for Davies throughout his time at Preston, and whilst the defender went on to bigger and better things with Liverpool in February, he hasn’t forgotten about Gally.
Davies congratulated Gallagher on a ‘brilliant career’, admitting that it was a pleasure to play with him at Deepdale as his influence received the praise it deserved.
