Preston North End target Mads Frøkjær-Jensen has been included in the Odense starting lineup to face Vejle BK today.
PNE fans have been craving any kind of transfer news of late and a surprise rumour emerged on Friday.
Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet reported that North End had made a bid to sign Odense playmaker Frøkjær-Jensen.
However, Odense didn’t even consider accepting PNE’s offer, leaving the ball in North End’s court.
The attacking midfielder has just one year left on his contract and North End seemingly want to team him up with fellow Dane Emil Riis.
We’re not expecting huge spending from PNE this summer, so much will depend on just how much Odense want for Frøkjær-Jensen.
Supporters have been hoping that a deal is imminent, but that doesn’t seem to be the case…

PNE target Mads Frøkjær-Jensen starts for Odense today
Odense are playing a pre-season friendly against fellow Danish side Vejle this afternoon.
The Danish season kicks off later this month, so Odense are gearing up for their big kick-off against Randers on the 23rd of July.
Today’s game will be vital for those plans and Odense have now released their starting lineup.
Sure enough, Frøkjær-Jensen is named in the XI, featuring as the number 10 for Odense.

If a move to PNE was close, you have to imagine that Frøkjær-Jensen wouldn’t be involved in today’s game.
Odense sporting director Bjorn Wesstrom has admitted to Tipsbladet that he is expecting two or three players to leave this summer.
Wesstrom feels that the Odense squad is too big and is now looking to trim a couple of players.
“The squad is a bit too big,” said Wesstrom. “[The ideal squad size is] when there are two players in each position. It’s the perfect thing. Then you must avoid having substitutes for training, which we have now, which is not so good. So it is two to three players who can go,” he added.
Whether that includes Frøkjær-Jensen remains to be seen, but PNE will seemingly need to ramp up their alleged interest or Odense will continue to play him in friendlies.
