Tuesday night saw Jayson Molumby make a return to The Den with his current club Preston North End.
The midfielder spent a spell on loan with Millwall last season and it was his previous employers who came out on top with a 2-1 victory.
Molumby made a return to the Preston side in place of Alan Browne, who missed out with a knock.
The Irishman made 40 appearances for Millwall last season, and Gary Rowett’s side were looking to bring him back on loan in January from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Preston beat them to the loan signing, and the Republic of Ireland international has been in and out of the side since his arrival.
Some Millwall fans were worried he would put in a good display against them, but it turned out that they would have the last laugh.
In truth, Molumby was a bit part player in the 90 minutes, and didn’t add much to the game.
Ryan Ledson has been missed, and Molumby has struggled to make much of an impact since his arrival.
Whilst the views of the Millwall fans were mixed, it’s clear North End haven’t seen him at his best yet.
With just 12 games of the season left, the midfielder is running out of time to impress.
Right now it doesn’t look like he is, and it would be unlikely for him to return next season.
