Preston take on Morecambe in the Carabao Cup this evening, and that means midfielder Adam Phillips will take on his boyhood club.
North End are seeking a path into the third round of the competition, having already seen off Mansfield Town in the first round.
Morecambe are not to be taken lightly, as they dumped Blackburn Rovers out in the first round – and their match-winner that night has close ties to Preston.
Midfielder Adam Phillips is on loan at Morecambe from Burnley, having spent two previous spells on loan with the Shrimps.
The 23-year-old stepped up from 12 yards to rifle home a penalty, sending Rovers out of the competition and Morecambe into this tie with Preston.
A talented set piece taker and deadly from the penalty spot, Phillips is has been open the books at Blackburn, Liverpool and Norwich City in the past.
Phillips was not only born in nearby Garstang, but is also a boyhood Preston fans and has been seen at North End games over the years – including this photo above.
The midfielder will now go up against Preston tonight, and he could even put himself on North End’s radar.
Preston could do with another midfielder down the line, and with Phillips impressing in League One, he could yet earn his dream move to Deepdale – especially if he impresses this evening.
