Preston North End have brought coach Rob Kelly back to the club in a move which former striker Neil Mellor really likes.
We always associate the summer with the transfer window with the coming and going of players taking centre stage.
North End have certainly experienced that with a raft of loanees as well as the likes of Daniel Johnson and Josh Onomah moving on.
Four signings have come in too but PNE have also made some coaching changes too.
Club hero Paul Gallagher made a somewhat surprise exit, rejoining former North End boss Alex Neil at Stoke City.
When announcing Gallagher’s exit, PNE announced the arrival of a new coach in Peter Murphy.
That wasn’t an absolute direct replacement though with PNE highlighting Murphy’s role being focused on set pieces and helping young players in the first-team environment.
North End confirmed another new coach this week though and it’s a familiar face.
Rob Kelly is back at Deepdale having previously served as the assistant manager to Paul Simpson and Alan Irvine.
The 58-year-old has enormous experience in the game having worked in assistant roles at Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, West Bromwich Albion, Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Fleetwood Town, Bury, Malmo, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Barrow and Wigan Athletic since leaving PNE in 2009.

Kelly assisted Ryan Lowe at Bury and the pair now reunite with Kelly adding more experience to the coaching staff alongside Mike Marsh.
That history with Lowe should make this move perfect for PNE and will aid Lowe; sometimes it’s easy to forget that the North End boss isn’t all that experienced as a manager.
PNE fans have been mostly positive about Kelly’s return and former North End striker Neil Mellor has offered his praise.
Mellor worked with Kelly at Deepdale and is now glad to see him back at PNE ahead of the new season.
Mellor took to Twitter to state that Kelly is a ‘very good coach’ and that PNE have made a great move in bringing him back after nearly 14 years away.
