Preston may well be in the market for a striker in January, and Rhian Brewster is one exciting name linked.

North End are one of a number of clubs in the race for Liverpool talent Brewster, according to The Telegraph. Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday are also thought to be keen.

Playing time is the key for Brewster, and for Liverpool. The 19-year-old striker has huge potential, but he needs playing time. That isn’t going to come at Liverpool right now, with Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi the main strikers at Anfield.

Preston could offer Brewster that playing time, with Jayden Stockley and David Nugent currently splitting duties up top. Adding a top young talent like Brewster, with pace and predatory instincts, could be a smart move.

Of course, Preston would have to fend off major interest for Brewster, so it’s far from a sure thing that he’ll come to Deepdale. Still, fans are getting excited, and even asking Neil Mellor for his opinion.

Pundit Mellor played for both Liverpool and Preston, and works for LFC TV, meaning he’ll have seen plenty of Brewster. He knows all about making that move from Anfield to Deepdale, and has taken to Twitter to share his view.

Mellor admitted that he really likes Brewster, feeling he is an ‘exciting goalscorer’ with ‘excellent movement’. Mellor did though note that Brewster won’t be short of takers, seemingly suggesting he would be a real coup for Preston if they can pull it off.
