Preston North End have confirmed that the away trip to Southampton has now been rescheduled after a postponement last week.
PNE made the long trip down to the South Coast to take on the Saints last Wednesday.
It’s a long old journey to Southampton and die-hard fans had made that journey too, only to be left disappointed.
The game was postponed just a few hours before kick-off as a fire broke out near to St Mary’s Stadium.
There was no real option but to postpone the game, with safety and traffic disruption big factors.
We are nearing the end of the season now, so finding a new date for the game won’t have been easy, but the rescheduling has been confirmed…
Southampton v PNE date confirmed
PNE have today announced that the game will now take place on Tuesday the 16th of April, with a 7:45pm kick-off time confirmed too.
Tickets purchased for the original date will still be valid with fans now weighing up whether to make the long journey once again.
When the game finally arrives, PNE will have just a handful of games left.

Southampton wedged between games against Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers is tricky, before ending the season at home to Leicester City and away at West Bromwich Albion.
That gives North End a tricky end to the season but Ryan Lowe will be looking to surprise a few people with a play-off push still in mind.
North End haven’t played an away league game at Southampton being hammered 3-1 on the South Coast back in February 2009.
PNE’s last away win at Southampton was way back in December 2007 with Lewis Neal scoring a memorable last-minute winner.
Let’s hope for similar scenes this time around with PNE finally set to face the Saints after last week’s cancellation.
