On Monday, we reported that Patrick Bauer is all set for a move to Preston.
The Charlton Athletic defender is out of contract this summer, and looks set to leave The Valley on a free transfer. North End have made their move, beating Championship rivals to his signature.
A deal for the 26-year-old German should be confirmed very soon, representing a bargain for Preston. We’ve lacked height at the back, and Bauer can be the dominant force we’ve needed.
Some were concerned that Lee Bowyer’s U-turn – staying at Charlton after all – may throw a spanner in the works, but Bauer’s move is all wrapped up.

Tonight, Bauer has taken to Twitter to send a message to Charlton fans. Bauer has said goodbye to the Addicks fans, admitting that he’s starting a new chapter in his career.

Bauer admitted he will never forget his four years at Charlton, including his winner in last month’s League One playoff final against Sunderland.
Bauer’s message tonight suggests that his next move is all set to be confirmed. With that in mind, we should expect to see Bauer in a Preston shirt shortly, with Alex Neil making his first signing of the summer.
