Former Preston North End boss Alex Neil has been spotted watching Nottingham Forest as they prepare for a managerial change.

Forest lost once again on Wednesday, falling to a 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.

Andraz Sporar and Onel Hernandez bagged the goals to give Boro the win, leaving Forest rooted to the bottom of the table.

With one point from seven Championship games, Forest look to be in major trouble.

The Telegraph’s John Percy now claims that Forest are set to part ways with Hughton. The search for a new manager would then begin, but some will wonder if it’s already started.

Ex-PNE boss Alex Neil spotted watching Forest

There was an interesting development on Wednesday night as Alex Neil was spotted at the City Ground.

VAVEL’s Ethan Lamb posted the photo on Twitter, showing Neil sat in the stands watching Forest.

PNE axed Neil in March, and he is surely eyeing a return to managmeent.

We have always been big fans of Neil and were frankly sad to see him leave PNE.

If Neil has financial backing, we can absolutely see him thriving with a Championship club.

Maybe that will be Forest, maybe it won’t.

There is a chance that Neil was simply watching a game. Yet with Hughton on the verge of the sack, the timing is interesting – and expect to see the Scot heavily linked if Hughton does go.
