Preston played out a 0-0 draw with Stoke City this afternoon – and there was a very interesting spectator at the bet365 Stadium.
North End couldn’t break down the Potters, even with Harry Souttar given a late red card for the hosts.
In the second half of the game, iFollow cameras captured Robbie Fowler watching the game in the stands.
That’s particularly interesting given that Preston are searching for a new manager, and Fowler is 20/1 for the North End job with Sky Sports.
Fowler has a long history with Peter Ridsdale. Preston’s advisor was at Leeds United when Fowler joined the club back in 2001.
Ridsdale then helped bring Fowler to Cardiff City back in 2007, with the pair seemingly having a strong relationship.
The ex-Liverpool striker has only held three managerial posts; Muangthong United in Thailand, Brisbane Roar in Australia and East Bengal in India.
Fowler has won just over 31% of his games in management, and his record doesn’t particularly lend itself for a key Championship job right now.
Fowler may have simply been taking in a game, but some will now wonder whether Ridsdale will look for a reunion at Preston.
