Brad Potts has every right to feel aggrieved this morning after the Preston North End star missed out on the EFL Goal of the Season award.

The EFL awards night took place on Sunday and there weren’t many surprises.

Middlesbrough attacker Chuba Akpom was named Championship Player of the Season whilst Burnley boss Vincent Kompany won the EFL Manger of the Season award.

One award left PNE fans absolutely baffled though – and we would imagine a few North End players are confused too.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Watford star Ismaila Sarr won the Goal of the Season award for a strike against West Bromwich Albion.

Spotting goalkeeper David Button off his line, Sarr launched a shot from inside his own half that went right over Button’s head and into the net.

This was a fine goal from the Senegal international but how on earth did it beat Brad Potts scoring against Luton Town?

Potts flew through the air to volley home an acrobatic strike against the Hatters from a deep Robbie Brady cross.

This isn’t just PNE fans acting aggrieved here – there is genuine reason for supporters being completely baffled.

Both Potts and Sarr scored their goals way back in August and when it came to announcing the Championship Goal of the Month award, Potts won it.

Fast forward to the end of the season and Sarr’s goal suddenly wins the Goal of the Season award ahead of Potts.

That just makes absolutely no sense and PNE fans have been taking to Twitter to share their outrage at Potts being overlooked.

The cynics will suggest that the EFL have just gone with the bigger-name player and the bigger-name team to headline the awards.

The decision certainly makes no sense to us and Potts was robbed of a deserved award as the season draws to an end.
