Preston North End midfielder Ben Whiteman has heaped praise on Everton loanee Tom Cannon after his display against Blackpool.

PNE fans are on cloud nine at the moment after Saturday’s derby day drubbing of Blackpool.

Brad Potts and Whiteman had North End 2-0 up in the first half before Cannon killed the game off with number three.

Blackpool did grab a consolation through Jerry Yates but nothing was going to dampen North End’s spirits.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

This was a memorable day at Deepdale and Cannon was absolutely superb.

Cannon was a livewire with his speed of thought – and his speed across the ground – causing real problems for the Blackpool b ack line.

Cannon looked absolutely full of confidence in the second half and took his goal brilliantly.

That’s now three goals in the last four games for Cannon, who appears to have really settled down in the Championship.

We can only assume that PNE are desperate for Cannon to return to Deepdale for another loan spell next season.

That will be tricky given Everton’s need for goals and the praise Cannon is receiving will surely be turning Sean Dyche’s head.

North End ace Whiteman has now joined in with the praise for Cannon.

Whiteman told iFollow after beating Blackpool that you just know Cannon is going to find the net if you give him a proper chance in front of goal.

Whiteman added that Cannon was simply ‘outstanding’ against Blackpool and absolutely deserved his goal.

“TC, when you give him a chance, you know it’s going to be a goal,” said Whiteman. “He was outstanding and thoroughly deserved his goal,” he added.

Everton will have been watching closely and PNE will have mixed feelings as Cannon continues to find the net, but maybe makes a loan return seem trickier.
