Preston North End talent Kian Best enjoyed a stunning debut for the England Under-19’s, recording a goal and an assist against Romania.

What a few months Kian Best has been having.

The teenager emerged as a genuine first-team option during pre-season and started the campaign as PNE’s left wing back.

Best dropped out of the side for around six weeks but has come back in to great effect in the last few weeks.

The 18-year-old was outstanding against Blackburn Rovers last week, just hours after being named in the England Under-19 squad for the first time.

Kian Best enjoys dream England Under-19 debut

Best was handed a start as England faced Romania over in Marbella, with the Under-19’s running out 6-0 winners.

The North End talent had a huge impact as he set up Chelsea’s Leo Castledine to make it 3-0 with a ‘beautifully whipped cross’.

We have seen those crosses in a PNE shirt, with Best providing outstanding quality into the penalty area.

Best got on the scoresheet himself, bagging a ‘screamer from 25 yards out’ to help England record a thumping victory.

Best lined up alongside some of the top talents in the country, from Tottenham Hotspur trio Alfie Dorrington, Ashley Phillips and Jamie Donley to Liverpool’s Calum Scanlon.

This will have been an incredible experience for Best, who was replaced by Manchester City’s Max Alleyne after 71 minutes.

There will surely be more caps to come for Best, especially after such an outstanding debut performance.

North End also noted that boss Ryan Lowe was out in Marbella to watch Best in action, showing incredible support for the PNE youngster.

The trip to Marbella can’t have been bad but Lowe is the one who has brought Best into the first-team setup and has set him on this path to England recognition, so this moment will have meant a lot to him too.
