Two weeks ago, we covered the news that Eyad Hammoud had joined North End on trial.
The Sheffield Wednesday teenager joined Bolton’s Max Broughton in playing for Preston against Blackpool last month, featuring in a 1-1 draw.
With hopes of re-establishing a reserve side, North End are looking to youngsters elsewhere. Broughton has been highly rated at Bolton, whilst Hammoud even made national headlines.
The Guardian named Hammoud in their top 60 young talents in the world back in October, backing him for stardom. The 17-year-old already has senior football under his belt with Lokomotiv Plovdiv back in Bulgaria.

Born in Lebanon but representing Bulgaria, Hammoud joined Wednesday in 2017, and has been in the Owls’ ranks ever since. The video below shows some of the quality that has made Hammoud an exciting prospect.
His trial at Preston was a surprise, but Wednesday have today confirmed that Hammoud has been released. His scholarship at Hillsborough is over, and he’s now free to move on.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
It remains to be seen whether Preston make a firm move for the teenage attacker. He’d certainly fit into that development squad style, of a player looking to make a step up from youth football.
Wednesday fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the news, with many baffled at Hammoud’s exit. Some are surprised to see him go, feeling he had a bright future at Hillsborough. If North End want him after that trial spell, Hammoud is certainly available to sign.
