Preston captain Alan Browne excelled for Ireland on Saturday night, giving a glimpse to Ryan Lowe of his ability as a right wing back.
Browne is one of a select number of Preston players currently away on international duty rather than sunning himself on holiday.
The Preston captain had a gruelling season anyway with 39 league appearances for North End.
Add in in his international commitments and Browne has been racking up the minutes for club and country.
Preston captain Alan Browne excelled for Ireland
On Saturday night, Browne started as a right wing back for Ireland as they hosted Scotland.
Ireland really needed a positive result after defeats to Armenia and Ukraine.
They certainly got that, hammering Scotland 3-0 in a comprehensive victory.
Browne opened the scoring, bundling home a somewhat scruffy close-range finish but you’ve got to be there to score them.
Troy Parrott made it 2-0 before Michael Obafemi lashed in a third.
Browne was praised by the Irish media, with Pundit Arena rating him at 8/10 after a ‘brilliant display’.
Balls.ie went with 8/10 too, branding Browne ‘excellent on the ball’ whilst helping nullify Liverpool ace Andrew Robertson.

The Irish Independent handed Browne an 8/10 too, again hailing him for his work against Robertson.
The Irish Mirror and Sports Joe both went with a 7/10 for Browne as he received plenty of credit over in Ireland.
This is particularly interesting given that Preston are desperately seeking a right wing back this summer.
Ironically, the man coming in to solve that problem may be Cyrus Christie – an international teammate of Browne.
Browne has played as a right wing back before at Preston under Alex Neil and we would have liked to see Ryan Lowe try that too.
Giving Browne a right wing back role may allow Ali McCann to get into the side regularly, which many of us would like to see.
Browne’s display against a star like Robertson shows that he can play that role to a high level, and it’s just food for thought for Lowe as he considers his options for next season.
