Scott Sinclair has rejoined Bristol Rovers, completing an emotional return to football months after leaving Preston North End on a free transfer.

Sinclair was released by North End at the end of his two-and-a-half-year contract.

There was plenty of hype around Sinclair when he joined from Celtic in January 2020 but it just never really worked out for him at Deepdale.

Sinclair did produce some great moments, including a long-range chip against Bournemouth in 2020, but his time at Preston will mostly be considered as a disappointment.

The 33-year-old started just six league games for Preston last season and it was no surprise when he was allowed to leave for nothing.

The months have passed without Sinclair finding himself a new club but that day has now come.

Bristol Rovers have announced the signing of Sinclair on a short-term deal having been training with Joey Barton’s side for a couple of weeks now.

Sinclair’s deal will see him stay with Rovers until January with the prospect of a longer-term deal should be prove his form and fitness.

Sinclair was born in Bath, just about half an hour outside of Bristol, and spent seven years in the Bristol Rovers youth ranks as a kid.

Chelsea saw huge potential in Sinclair and lured him to London but he never quite made the grade at Stamford Bridge.

Spells with Swansea City, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Celtic and Preston followed but Sinclair now heads back to where it all began.

Based on his time at Preston, we can certainly see Sinclair being able to make an impact in League One and he will surely love being back home.

We can only wish Sinclair all the best down at the Memorial Ground as the winger attempts to rediscover the form that made him a Celtic hero.
