Clinton Morrison hails Aston Villa loanee Cameron Archer after 'brilliant' Preston goal

Preston fans praising Cameron Archer is one thing, but he is now being hailed by a former Premier League striker in Clinton Morrison.

Archer was the hero for Preston on Saturday afternoon as he fired the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over Hull City.

Archer went close in the first half, brilliantly backing into a defender before hitting the post from long-range.

In the second half though, Archer had his moment. Picked out by Ben Whiteman, Archer took one touch and slammed a cool finish into the net.

That’s Archer second goal in just four appearances for Preston, with the 20-year-old making an instant impact having joined from Aston Villa in January.

Sadly, Archer isn’t a full-time Preston player and will return to Villa this summer, but all we can do is enjoy him whilst he is here.

Archer looks destined for a huge future in the Premier League, with Morrison now praising his latest goal for Preston.

On Saturday night, Morrison was speaking on EFL on Quest and took the time to praise Archer’s match-winning display for Preston.

Morrison firstly praised Lowe, hailing his connections having made sure Villa boss Steven Gerrard chose Preston as Archer’s loan club.

Morrison then praised Archer, claiming he has been ‘outstanding’ and ‘brilliant’ in a Preston shirt, not just for his goals but his all-round play too.

Having agreed that Archer is ‘pure class’, Morrison feels Lowe will be delighted with the youngster given that Lowe himself used to score similar goals in his playing days.

“Pure class and that’s Ryan Lowe,” said Morrison. “You’ve got to give credit to Lowey, because he knows a lot of managers. He’s loaned him from Aston Villa, so he knows Steven Gerrard.”

“Archer, that’s four games and two goals, he’s been outstanding to be fair, he’s been brilliant. His all-round game today was brilliant. What I like about him, he always shifts it, he wants to have a shot.”

“But his goal in particular is one I really like. This is brilliant, what makes it is the touch, because it’s a difficult ball, it’s bobbling in but the touch is instant and it’s a brilliant finish. His manager will be pleased with that because Ryan Lowe could finish like that too,” he added.
