Preston fans are loving life with Cameron Archer at Deepdale, and Steve Eyre has heaped praise on the young striker after his latest goal.

North End grabbed a 1-0 win at Hull City on Saturday, with Archer’s second-half goal securing all three points at the MKM Stadium.

Archer controlled Ben Whiteman’s pass and rattled a finish past Matt Ingram, sending the travelling Preston fans wild.

Archer was unlucky to only find the net once having caused Hull problems all day long, forcing a fine save from Ingram and hitting the post in the first half.

The Aston Villa loanee has provided the spark Preston were seeking in the final third, and now has two goals in just four outings.

Whether Preston can keep Archer on loan for next season remains to be seen, but North End fans will already be dreaming of an extended spell.

That will be down to Steven Gerrard and the Aston Villa staff, but Ryan Lowe is certainly showing that Preston is a great home for Archer.

BBC Radio Lancashire analyst and former Rochdale boss Steve Eyre has now given his take on Archer having been at the Hull game .

Eyre praised Archer for making such a big impact at Preston, calling him a ‘handful’ – and hull defenders would probably agree with that.

Former Manchester City coach Eyre added that there is a ‘carnival atmosphere’ from Preston fans whenever Archer shines, with the North End fanbase taking Archer to their hearts.

“Archer is an impact, a handful that can turn a game your way,” said Eyre. “The fans have gone with it, so there’s a carnival atmosphere every time he does something good,” he added.
