Preston have this evening confirmed their new first-year scholars for the youth setup – and there has been a former Blackburn Rovers lad has landed a deal.
North End’s youth setup hasn’t been churning out first-team players, but there are real hopes for some young talents.
Ethan Walker, Aaron Bennett and Jacob Holland-Wilkinson all look exciting, and the new first-year scholars will be looking to make strides towards the Preston first team.
The likes of Noah Mawene and Josh Seary are on the list of recruits, having been highly rated in the Preston youth setup already.
Kian Best, Finlay Wallbank, Kian Taylor and Finlay Cross-Adair also been through the age groups at Preston, whilst Irish defender Jacob Slater is also in the mix.
Goalkeeper James Pradic has arrived from Charlton Athletic, but there will be attention on attacker Rio Pemberton.
Pemberton left Blackburn Rovers as an Under-16 and joined Preston, with a scholarship now giving him a chance to make a step up at North End in the coming years.
Head of Coaching Matt Craddock has described Pemberton as ‘quick, skilful and creative’, adding that he plays either out wide or up front.
Preston have seen Tyrhys Dolan become a first-team regular at Blackburn, and would no doubt love Pemberton to do the same in order to somewhat readdress the balance.
