Preston didn’t quite see the best of midfielder Jayson Molumby during his loan spell with the club, but he could face North End next season.
Alex Neil took Molumby on loan in January, admitting that he actually wanted to sign the Irishman permanently but Brighton and Hove Albion wouldn’t allow it.
Fans were excited about Molumby’s arrival, but he struggled to make an impact in a Preston side that couldn’t string together consistent results – or team selections.

Molumby then only played four times under Frankie McAvoy, and none of them were as a starter. It was therefore no surprise when North End allowed his loan to end without making a move to extend his stay at Deepdale.
The 21-year-old returns to Brighton with his future unclear, as his loan spell at North End didn’t exactly catapult him into first-team reckoning under Graham Potter.

Now, The Athletic report that Molumby is attracting Championship interest and could move on from Brighton in search of first-team football.
That could be a loan or permanent move, and Millwall would surely be interested again having seen him impress on loan there in the 2019-20 season.
As for Preston, there just doesn’t seem to be room for Molumby anymore, and a return to Deepdale surely won’t be on the cards even if he is available.
