Preston striker Emil Riis has secured a place in the Carabao Cup Team of the Tournament, joining the likes of Reece James and Nicolas Pepe.
The Carabao Cup final is upon us today, with Liverpool taking on Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.
The Team of the Tournament has been named this weekend, with Chelsea players unsurprisingly named.
Four Blues stars – Kepa Arrizabalaga, Reece James, Marcos Alonso and Saul Niguez – all made the XI.
There were no inclusions from Liverpool though, with their run to the final seemingly not providing any players worthy of a spot.
Arsenal duo Cedric Soares and Nicolas Pepe made the cut, as did QPR’s Rob Dickie, Swansea City’s Morgan Whittaker and Brentford duo Yoane Wissa and Marcus Forss.
Partnering Forss in attack is Preston’s very own Emil Riis, managing what Liverpool players couldn’t.
Riis scored the second goal in Preston’s first Carabao Cup win of the season, a 3-0 win away at Mansfield Town.

The Dane then found the net twice in the second leg, bagging a brace away at Morecambe as Preston won 4-2.
When Preston were then handed a clash with Chesterfield, Riis smashed in an injury-time goal to seal a 4-1 victory.
Riis wasn’t able to continue that run against Liverpool as Preston bowed out, but four goals in four games was a strong return and enough for Riis to be recognised.
That’s another note of Riis’s superb season, supplementing his league goals excellence in the Carabao Cup.
