Preston are in advanced talks to appoint Fleetwood Town chief scout James Wallace.
That’s according to a report from Football Insider, who today report that Wallace is nearing a move to Deepdale.
It’s suggested that negotiations are advanced and a deal for Wallace to arrive at Deepdale is expected very soon.
Preston lost former head of recruitment Joe Savage to Heart of Midlothian in 2020, with Wallace expected to take the role of chief scout.
James Beet came in from Barnsley to aid the recruitment department last summer. His role has now been changed and he will be in charge of loan pathways for young players at Preston.
MRKT Insights are now working with Preston to try and identify potential signings but Lowe now seemingly has his own man arriving.
Wallace may be a familiar name to some having turned out for Tranmere Rovers and Sheffield United in his playing days.
Wallace is only 30 but turned to scouting after hanging up his boots early with injuries taking their toll on him.
Born in Liverpool just like Lowe, Wallace actually featured alongside the Preston boss in his time as a player.
Wallace and Lowe lined up together for Tranmere Rovers during the 2013-14 season and are now set to reunite at Deepdale.

When Wallace was injured at Tranmere, Lowe took over as captain as the pair were key leaders at Prenton Park.
That was surely a key factor in targeting Wallace, with Lowe no doubt able to recommend a deal for the Fleetwood man.
Preston heroes Tom Clarke and Joe Garner have both been signed in Wallace’s time there, but seem more like signings led by ex-North End boss Simon Grayson.
Josh Harrop also joined Fleetwood in January with Wallace potentially overseeing that deal.
It promises to be a busy summer for Preston as they look to retool Lowe’s squad and Wallace will now seemingly play a key role.
