Preston North End boss Frankie McAvoy is under increasing pressure and could lose his job after the 2-1 home defeat to Cardiff City.
That’s according to Lancs Live, who claim that defeat to Middlesbrough in midweek could lead to a change in the dugout.
The Preston hierarchy are allegedly ‘alarmed’ by recent performance and appear to be weighing up replacing McAvoy.
After being 1-0 up against Cardiff, Preston completely fell apart in the second half, contriving to lose 2-1.
Fans at Deepdale were angry as the mood around Preston remains less than savoury.
On paper, results haven’t been that bad of late. Preston have won three of the last six games, but performances have been the real concern.
Outside of the win against Bournemouth, you can’t point to many instances where Preston played well for 90 minutes.
Add in the truly disastrous 2-0 defeat away at Blackpool and you can understand why Preston fans are so unhappy.
McAvoy’s tactics and substitutions have been heavily questioned, as have his media interactions and lack of real connection with the fans.
Tuesday’s trip to Middlesbrough could now be an even bigger game than McAvoy imagined, with his job potentially on the line.
