Preston are in the race to sign Huddersfield Town defender Rarmani Edmonds-Green after impressing on loan at League One side Swindon Town.
The Sun claim that North End are keen to bring Edmonds-Green to Deepdale – but face a battle to do so.
Championship rivals Barnsley and Cardiff City are also thought to be interested in Edmonds-Green.
Derby County like him too, but their financial situation means a move to Pride Park seems unlikely.
Edmonds-Green is allegedly valued at around £500,000 ahead of the January window with Huddersfield prepared to sell.
Who is Preston target Edmonds-Green?
Edmonds-Green, 22, was born in Peckham and actually came through the Nike Academy. On his 17th birthday in 2016, Edmonds-Green signed for Huddersfield.
After loan spells at Brighouse Town, Bromley and Swindon Town – where he was branded ‘outstanding’ – Edmonds-Green is shining with Rotherham this term.

Primarily a right-sided centre back, Edmonds-Green has been operating in a back three under Paul Warne.
That’s important to note given that he could play a similar role under new Preston boss Ryan Lowe.
Sepp van den Berg will return to Liverpool next summer and Edmonds-Green could be seen as his eventual replacement.
£500,000 seems cheap for a young defender with real potential, but Preston may hope to strike a January bargain.
