Preston North End defender Jordan Storey appears to be closing in on a move to Sheffield Wednesday having visited Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

Reports from Yorkshire Live broke earlier this week, suggesting that Storey was a prime loan target for Wednesday.

The Owls ended up facing a battle for Storey, with the Lancashire Post claiming that Ipswich Town and Sunderland had enquired too.

With Preston fielding offers for Storey, it now seems that Wednesday have won the race for his signature.

Sky Sports report that Storey visited Hillsborough on Tuesday night ahead of completing his move to join Wednesday.

Preston’s youth side were playing against Wednesday at Hillsborough last night, with Storey seemingly making the same journey over to South Yorkshire.

Storey, 24, started the season in Preston’s starting XI, featuring prominently as a right-sided centre back.

North End handed Storey a new contract in September, but the has yet to play a single minute under new boss Ryan Lowe.

Preston now want Storey to go out and play first-team football before coming back to Deepdale in the summer.

This is a great move for Storey, hopefully playing a key role for a play-off chasing side and in front of a huge fanbase.

Storey still has a future at Preston, but needs to get minutes under his belt in League One.

North End needed to offload players in order to bring in new blood this month, and Storey’s exit could trigger some incoming business.
