Preston loanee Jordan Storey praised for ‘dominant’ Sheffield Wednesday display

Preston defender Jordan Storey enjoyed a strong debut for Sheffield Wednesday as he helped his loan club to a 2-0 win over Burton Albion.

North End sent Storey out on loan in January with the defender falling out of the starting lineup following Ryan Lowe’s arrival.

With Sepp van den Berg starting as the right-sided centre back and Bambo Diaby arriving on a free transfer, moving Storey out until the summer made sense.

Storey has now played three times for Wednesday and has yet to concede a single goal.

After a 1-0 debut win over Ipswich Town, Storey helped Wednesday beat Morecambe 2-0 in midweek.

On Saturday, Storey got another 90 minutes under his belt and another clean sheet, beating Burton Albion 2-0.

George Byers and Sylla Sow grabbed the goals, but Storey appears to have been one of the key players in the win.

Yorkshire Live gave Storey an eight out of 10 in their player ratings, with nobody ranking higher than the Preston loanee.

They claimed that Storey was ‘imperious’ at the back, adding that he was ‘dominant in the air’ and even nearly scored.

This is exactly what Preston want. At 24, Storey needs to be playing regularly and, in a perfect world, playing well.

That’s how Storey’s time at Wednesday has started, and Lowe will be delighted to hear of his progress ahead of returning to Preston this summer.
