Andre Green’s time at Preston was largely forgettable – but he is now thriving after a shock move to Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava.
After selling Callum Robinson to Sheffield United in the summer of 2019, Preston desperately needed another attacking player.
Having had success signing one left-sided winger with England youth caps from Aston Villa, Preston tried it again, signing Green to replace Robinson.
Sadly for Preston, it really didn’t work very well.
Green managed just four league appearances for Preston and didn’t even see the end of his season-long loan spell.
In true Preston fashion, Green’s only goal at Deepdale that season came against North End having moved on to Charlton Athletic.
Green spent the second half of last season with Sheffield Wednesday, but he was surprisingly sold to Slovan Bratislava in August.
Few really thought Green would end up in Slovakia, but the move appears to be paying dividends.

Green hasn’t yet scored in league action, but he is remarkably the top scorer in the Europa Conference League.
Harry Kane may be playing in that competition this season, but it’s Green leading the scoring charts.
Thursday’s brace against Lincoln Red Imps means Green now has four goals in his last three Conference League games.
Green appears to be getting his career back on track in Slovakia, and a return to England one day wouldn’t be a surprise.
