Preston have confirmed the appointment of Ryan Lowe as their new manager – and he is bringing coach Mike Marsh in to work alongside him.

Lowe quickly became North End’s primary target after sacking Frankie McAvoy on Monday night.

Lowe has now left Plymouth Argyle and has signed on to manage North End.

The 43-year-old is an exciting young manager and is already making his first move by bringing in Marsh to help him.

With Steven Schumacher replacing Lowe as Plymouth boss, a new right-hand man was needed for Preston’s new manager.

Lowe has chosen Marsh as noted by Alan Nixon, but he may not be a familiar name to Preston fans.

Remarkably though, Marsh actually started out his coaching career with Preston’s Under-14’s and will now return to North End.

Marsh left Preston for a spot in Liverpool’s academy, and eventually ended up as a first-team coach at Anfield.

Marsh headed to Huddersfield Town with David Wagner in 2015, before reuniting with his former Liverpool pal Steve Cooper in an England Under-17 role.

Cooper took Marsh to Swansea City in 2019, working together for two years in South Wales.

Marsh has been out of work since August but will seemingly head back to Preston in a quite remarkable move.

Marsh’s background looks very impressive, and this seems like the kind of progressive move North End have needed for a while.
