Preston North End’s outstanding win at Blackburn Rovers has been recognised with four inclusions in the EFL Team of the Week.

PNE headed off to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon as Championship football made a big return from the World Cup break.

North End were without a string of first-team players with Robbie Brady, Andrew Hughes, Alan Browne, Ali McCann and Emil Riis lal out of action.

It didn’t matter though as PNE stepped up to the occasions and were simply terrific against Rovers.

RONALDO, BALE AND 5 FAILED PREMIER LEAGUE HOMECOMINGS

Ben Woodburn got the ball rolling with the opening goal before Ched Evans bagged a brace, scoring either side of a Bradley Sack goal.

Ben Whiteman sealed the win with a beautiful fourth, securing an enormous three points for North End and Ryan Lowe.

If there was a better performance in the EFL this weekend, we haven’t seen it – and North End have now been celebrated for their display.

The official EFL Team of the Week has been released and PNE have four inclusions.

Firstly, the Manager of the Week is Ryan Lowe as the North End boss earns the praise he certainly deserves.

Brad Potts is named in the starting XI as the right back having been excellent at Ewood Park.

Daniel Johnson is then featured in midfield having played a ridiculous back-heel assist to set up Whiteman’s goal.

The final inclusion is striker Evans, who not only scored twice but also set up Woodman’s opening strike.

The Welshman is in great form at the moment and deserves his spot in the Team of the Week.

It’s nice to see North End recognised for a superb display and we can only hope to see a few more PNE-heavy Team of the Weeks before the end of the season.
