Connor Wickham is on the move once again and the former Preston North End striker could end up returning to the Championship.
Wickham joined PNE on a free transfer back in September of 2021 having been released by Crystal Palace in the summer.
Wickham had impressed on trial at North End and was given a short-term contract until January 2022.
After coming off the bench for a debut against West Bromwich Albion, Wickham was then handed a start against Cheltenham Town in the Carabao Cup.

Sadly for Wickham, that appearance lasted just a few minutes as he suffered a hamstring injury. Wickham never played for PNE again.
The striker admitted in December that his injury at PNE was possibly the lowest moment in his career having worked so hard to get fit.

Ryan Lowe chose to let Wickham go when that short-term deal came to an end, and the striker ended up heading to Milton Keynes Dons.
Forest Green Rovers then took a chance on Wickham over the summer and his form has been pretty impressive.

Wickham scored nine times in 20 games for Forest Green before picking up an injury in December.
The 29-year-old is now in the same boat as last January; his short-term deal with Forest Green is over and they have announced that Wickham has left the club.
Yet it now sounds like Wickham could turn to the Championship, with The Mirror’s Darren Witcoop reporting that Championship and League One clubs are keen.
Reading took Wickham on trial over the summer and the Royals may be one team still tracking Wickham.
A return to PNE surely won’t be happening but we could end up seeing Wickham going up against North End if he does make a Championship return this month.
