Preston boss Ryan Lowe has confirmed that winger Josh Murphy has suffered an injury setback and will now miss the next few weeks.
North End travel to take on Cardiff City in the FA Cup this weekend, with Murphy unable to play anyway.
Murphy is on loan from the Bluebirds and wouldn’t be allowed to feature against his parent club.
Boss Lowe has now admitted that Murphy has a bigger problem to deal with because he is now injured once again.
Just last week, it was suggested that Murphy was ramping up his return from injury having been on the sidelines since October.
Murphy suffered an ankle injury in October and hasn’t played since.
Having ramped up his return, Murphy will have been hoping for action in a packed schedule over the coming weeks.
Sadly, that won’t be he happening.

This time it’s a calf injury for Murphy, meaning he faces a number of weeks on the sidelines.
This just adds more frustration to Murphy’s situation at Preston.
Snapped up on loan from Cardiff on deadline day in August, Murphy hasn’t even started a game for Preston.
Finding a role for the winger wasn’t easily in a 3-4-1-2 under Frankie McAvoy, and being cup-tied for League Cup action wasn’t ideal.
Murphy’s latest injury just piles on the misery for the winger, who was playing for a contract given that he is a free agent in the summer.
