Burnley have snapped up striker Michael Obafemi – just about 18 months since Preston North End wanted to sign the Irishman.
The Clarets look to be a strong shout for winning the Championship title and are going for it under Vincent Kompany.
Burnley brought in a new striker just days ago with South African international Lyle Foster arriving from Belgian outfit Westerlo.
Kompany still wanted more firepower though and has now struck a deal to sign Swansea City striker Obafemi.
The Bizarre Rise & Fall Of The Chinese Super League
Obafemi joins on loan until the end of the season with Burnley having the option to turn the move permanent for £3million in the summer.
Burnley chased Obafemi strongly in the 2022 summer window and have finally secured their man.
Obafemi’s name may ring a bell to PNE fans after he was strongly linked with a move to Deepdale back in August 2021.
PNE were looking for an attacking signing in the final stages of the summer window and Hampshire Live reported that North End went for Obafemi, who was at Southampton.
So did Blackburn Rovers, but both missed out as Swansea City secured a deal worth £1.5million rising to £2million.

The Irish international blew hot and cold at times but still ended up with 12 Championship goals, with this season proving to be a bit more of a struggle.
Still, Swansea stand to earn a profit on Obafemi and that’s ultimately why PNE identified him as a target some 18 months ago.
PNE ended up signing Josh Murphy on loan from Norwich City and invested their cash in midfielder Ali McCann.
Murphy was a total flop at Deepdale whilst McCann has largely been impressive, though spending big money on another midfielder has been questioned.
Obafemi will now have a chance to score against PNE when North End travel to Turf Moor to take on the Clarets on February 11th.
