Preston North End are reportedly chasing Bobby Clark and Ryan Lowe may look to use a family tie to secure the Liverpool loanee’s signature.

The Chronicle claim that PNE are interested in signing Clark on loan for the second half of the season.

The 17-year-old is currently in and around Liverpool’s first-team squad due to the number of players involved in the World Cup.

Clark has been impressing though and it’s unclear whether Liverpool will even allow him to go out on loan in January.

PNE will hope that some ties to Liverpool can help here.

North End developed Sepp van den Berg masterfully in an 18-month stint at Deepdale whilst Ryan Lowe is a boyhood Liverpool fans who has impressed Jurgen Klopp in the past.

There’s another connection here though – and it’s one between Lowe and Clark’s father.

The teenager is the son of former Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark, who also managed Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City and more.

Clark senior became Bury boss in 2017 and inherited Lowe, who was a veteran striker for the Shakers at the time.

Clark praised Lowe as a ‘great example’ to young players, something that may just tempt him into urging his son to join PNE.

When Clark was sacked as Bury boss, Lowe took over as caretaker manager of Bury and took the permanent job after Chris Lucketti’s stint in charge.

Clark was clearly a big fan of Lowe during his time at Bury and Lowe may hope to utilise that relationship to secure his son on loan for the rest of the season.

Lowe has been involved in relations like this in the past, given that he managed Cameron Archer’s brother Jordan at Bury before then securing the Aston Villa striker on loan.

Let’s see if history can somewhat repeat itself with PNE snapping up Clark after Lowe’s history with a family member.
