Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has hailed Greg Cunningham as ‘immense’ after another strong display against Rotherham United on Tuesday.

PNE made it two wins in a row on Tuesday night, beating Rotherham 2-1 away from home.

Tom Cannon and Ched Evans were on the scoresheet once again to give North End the win, just as they were against Cardiff City on Saturday.

After a really tricky run of form, Lowe has done incredibly well to go seven games unbeaten.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

A number of players are playing really well of late, from goalscoring duo Cannon and Evans to defender Bambo Diaby.

Then there is Greg Cunningham, whose consistency is no surprise to PNE fans anymore.

The Irishman was outstanding as a left back in his first spell at the club, spending three successful years at Deepdale before heading to Cardiff City.

Cunningham returned in 2021 and his game has changed a little after injuries and now he’s into his 30’s.

Cunningham has been lining up as a left-sided centre back in a three-man defence for Lowe, a role we did see him play at times under Simon Grayson.

With Andrew Hughes out injured again, Cunningham has stepped up well in recent games and has been outstanding.

Cunningham produced a superb assist to set up Cannon against Cardiff and was solid once again on Tuesday night.

Now 32, Cunningham is one of the team leaders at PNE and Lowe has now praised the defender.

Lowe has told iFollow that he thinks Cunningham has been ‘immense’ in recent games and has formed a really strong back line with Bambo Diaby and Jordan Storey.

“[Bambo] has come in and been solid and resolute, along with Jordan, who I thought was fantastic as well, Greg has been immense,” said Lowe.
