Preston travel to take on Swansea City in the Championship this weekend, and the hosts will have a new face in their squad with Hannes Wolf snapped up.

North End head to South Wales in search of another positive result having gone unbeaten in Ryan Lowe’s first four league games in charge.

Swansea pose a major threat to any side, and will always play an attractive brand of football under Russell Martin.

The Swansea are though winless in their last four Championship games and need to get back on track this weekend.

In order to bolster Swansea’s hopes, Martin has pulled off an incredible transfer coup by snapping up Hannes Wolf.

Wolf was a hot prospect with Red Bull Salzburg, smashing 23 goals in 89 games from midfield.

RB Leipzig pounced in 2019, luring Wolf to Germany before a broken leg quickly limited his impact.

Loaned to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2020, the aim was for Wolf to get back on track. Six goals in 32 tempts Gladbach into a permanent deal, but he has barely featured this season.

Linked strongly with Celtic, Wolf has instead chosen to go to the Championship, signing on loan for Swansea until the summer.

Boss Martin has admitted that the deal came about because of a relationship with Wolf’s agent, who made it clear from the start that a deal was unlikely.

Still, Swansea pushed and got their man, leaving Martin delighted.

Swansea are awaiting international clearance, but it looks like Wolf will be able to make his debut against Preston this weekend, and North End must be aware of a huge threat in the final third.
