Preston have confirmed Frankie McAvoy as the club’s permanent head coach – and now the hard work begins.
McAvoy took charge of North End on an interim basis following Alex Neil’s departure, and lost just one of his eight games in charge.
With four wins in a row to end the season and just one goal conceded in the last five games, McAvoy has done everything he could – and it’s paid off as he takes his first managerial job.
Preston must now back McAvoy with signings this summer, and a dream addition would be goalkeeper Daniel Iversen.
The Dane joined North End on loan from Leicester City in January and has been sensational ever since, quickly becoming a fan favourite.
Fans want to see Iversen back at Deepdale again next season, and the wheels are allegedly in motion.
The Lancashire Evening Post report that Preston have made contact over another loan move for Iversen by asking Leicester the all-important question.
Leicester are thought to be ‘open’ to the idea, but with Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward playing at the European Championships this summer, it may take a while for the Foxes to let Iversen out.
It would be amazing to see him back permanently, but another loan deal would be great too – and he may yet follow in the footsteps of Paul Gallagher, who signed for Preston permanently after multiple loan deals from Leicester.
