Preston boss Ryan Lowe has indicated that Bambo Diaby will receive more minutes in Tuesday’s reserve game against Fleetwood Town.

North End drew 1-1 at Coventry City on Saturday afternoon in a game that exploded into life in the final 10 minutes.

Liam Lindsay was sent off for Preston, only for Coventry defender Fankaty Dabo to suffer the same fate just moments later.

Daniel Johnson, after two fan interruptions, stepped up to score and seemingly give Preston all three points.

There was a very, very late twist though as Fabio Tavares grabbed a leveller for Coventry in the 98th minute.

Ryan Lowe did make a late change to try and see the game out with Bambo Diaby coming on for Sepp van den Berg.

That was Diaby’s first appearance for Preston but also his first game in more than two years having been banned for a doping violation.

Diaby spent two months training with Preston before signing a short-term contract on deadline day in January.

The defender scored against Bolton Wanderers in a Central League game earlier this month and now has his first senior game under his belt.

Lowe admitted that this was a ‘fantastic’ moment for Diaby after so long out of the game, and outlined the plans for him to play in another Central League game against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday.

The hope is that, with more minutes under his belt in reserve games, Diaby will prove to be a real asset for Preston and win a longer deal into next season and beyond.
