Preston boss Ryan Lowe has admitted he plans to hold talks with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers over the future of goalkeeper Daniel Iversen.
North End swooped to sign Iversen on loan from the Foxes in January 2021, pouncing after an injury to Declan Rudd.
The Dane had been on Preston’s radar for a while and a move certainly made sense as he reunited with his former Rotherham United goalkeeping coach Mike Pollitt.
They always say you shouldn’t fall in love with loan players, but Preston fans absolutely have with Iversen.
With miraculous save after miraculous save, Iversen has proven himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Championship this season.
Having extended his loan stay last summer, Preston are now left waiting to hear whether Iversen will be back again next season.
Iversen, according to Lancs Live, wants to be settled with a permanent club next season but also doesn’t want to sit around as a second choice.
That means Iversen likely wants to leave Leicester for a new club, but can Preston really afford to sign the Dane permanently?

That may depend entirely on just how much imminent owner Chris Kirchner is willing to invest in signings, but Iversen will surely be top of the list this summer.
Lowe has now indicated, as quoted by Lancs Live, that he will speak to Leicester boss Rodgers in the near future, but will plan for live without Iversen as things stand.
“We definitely have to plan for the future without them until told otherwise, because they aren’t our players,” said Lowe. “I will speak to Brendan Rodgers about Daniel eventually – I know he is a busy man with other things on his mind, not worrying about me and Daniel Iversen,” he added.
Let’s hope we see much more of Iversen in a Preston shirt, and his signing would be the perfect way to start the Kirchner era.
