Preston appear to be closing in on their new manager with Plymouth Argyle boss Ryan Lowe allegedly closing in on the job.
North End parted ways with Frankie McAvoy on Monday night having lost 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The immediate noises were that Preston wanted a new manager in before the weekend game against Barnsley.
It now seems that North End have decided on their new boss with Lowe the top choice.
TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has reported this morning that Lowe is leaving Plymouth to take the Preston job.
We also understand that Lowe is North End’s priority target and the hope is that he will be on board soon.
Lowe, 43, started his managerial career with Bury in 2018. Despite off-field chaos and players not being paid, Lowe won promotion with the Shakers in 2019.
Lowe decided to leave despite that promotion, dropping back down to League Two with Plymouth.
That was definitely one step back to try and take two steps forward.

Lowe took Plymouth up in his first season in charge. His second season was tricky, staying up by just six points in League One.
This season though, Argyle sit fourth in League One and are vying for promotion to the Championship.
Lowe is a young, vibrant manager who has already landed two promotions on his CV.
The step up to the Championship won’t be easy, but Preston appear to be closing in on one of the Football League’s top young coaches.
