Plans are starting to come together for pre-season, and it is hoped fans can start to be part of them. If all things go to plan, fans should be back in stadiums on a permanent basis later this summer, just in time for the new football season.
It has been a long time since we were able to watch our beloved teams, but it’s almost within touching distance now. Preston North End have announced they will be playing Celtic in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 17th July with a 17:30 kick-off. If fans of both teams are allowed to attend the game in Glasgow it is sure to be a popular one.
A trip to Celtic Park is one to tick of the list for any football fan, but after so long without any live football, the North End faithful will be looking forward to this one. There haven’t been many exciting pre-season trips for some time now, with the usual fixtures against Irish sides and Bamber Bridge and Chorley becoming a bit too regular.
However a journey north of the border in a stadium with a capacity of 60,000 has whet the appetite for many. Expect Preston fans to arrive in Glasgow in their thousands for this one. It will also see a return to Celtic Park for Scott Sinclair who enjoyed a memorable, trophy laden spell there.
More fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks for Frankie McAvoy’s side, as fans edge closer to a return to Deepdale also.
Celtic are currently without a manager, but they will expect to have a new one in place by the time this friendly comes around. Eddie Howe is a name that has been rumoured for weeks, and they will hope to challenge their rivals Rangers next season, after a poor campaign this time round.
