Preston North End travel to take on Bournemouth in the Championship tonight, with Alex Neil seeking a much-needed win.

Heavy defeats to Blackburn Rovers and Watford have turned the mood a little sour at Deepdale, and a trip to another recently-relegated side is far from ideal.

Still, at least Ben Davies is back. The defender has been out injured of late, but returned at Watford with a fine performance in the 4-1 defeat.

Davies heads to the Vitality Stadium tonight, which is where he so easily could have been playing his football this season and beyond.

Bournemouth launched a £3million bid for Davies over the summer according to Lancs Live, but the offer was rejected by North End.

That bid fell well short of Preston’s asking price for Davies, even though he is in the final year of his contract and could walk away from Deepdale at the end of the season for absolutely nothing.

The 25-year-old was being viewed as a replacement for Nathan Ake as a mobile, left-footed defender who can play out from the back, but Lloyd Kelly has ended up playing in that role.

Davies will be hoping to sink Bournemouth tonight mere months after he could have been playing for them, and maybe just show the Cherries what they’re missing.
