Troy Parrott has undergone surgery after suffering a hamstring injury on loan at Preston, with his comeback trail now beginning in earnest.

Parrott endured a bittersweet afternoon against Norwich City earlier this month.

The Irishman came off the bench to score the winner for North End as they secured a huge 3-2 victory at Carrow Road.

However, Parrott appeared to pull a hamstring in his celebrations and had to be taken off injured.

Parrott had come under so much criticism from Preston fans having struggled to find the net.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee appeared to lose confidence not just in front of goal but also with his all-round game having been on a goal drought.

To finally open his account and then immediately suffer an injury will have been a bitter blow for Parrott.

The expectation is that Parrott won’t play for Preston again before the World Cup next month.

Blackburn Rovers away is Preston’s first game back after the World Cup break and the hope is that he will be ready to return for that clash.

For now though it’s all about recovery and Parrott has been in for his operation on his injured hamstring.

Parrott has taken to Instagram to post that his surgery went well and he is now starting his road to recovery.

Parrott promised to do everything he can to get back as soon as possible and attempted to be as upbeat as possible.

Preston teammate Freddie Woodman responded by wishing Parrott all the best and as swift recovery.

Alvaro Fernandez followed suit with North End players among those to wish Parrott well on his journey back to full fitness.
