Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe is being linked with a shock move to become the new Rangers manager.
Rangers are looking for a new manager and PNE boss Ryan Lowe is now being linked with a move to Ibrox.
North End have been going well this season, winning six of the first nine Championship games to start the new season.
Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion was the first major blow of the campaign with PNE defying the odds to sit around the top of the table.
Maybe we should have expected rumours about Lowe’s future to follow such good results, but links to Rangers have caught most fans by surprise…
Ryan Lowe linked with Rangers job
Scottish newspaper the Daily Record reported late on Monday night that Lowe is contention for the Rangers job.
Ranges sacked manager Michael Beale late on Sunday night after less than year in the Ibrox hot seat.
Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen proved to be the end for Beale and the hunt for his replacement is now on.
It’s suggested that Lowe has become a surprise contender but he ticks the boxes for Rangers as they seek a new boss.
Rangers allegedly want attacking football on a budget and believe that Lowe can bring it whilst following in the footsteps of his friend Steven Gerrard, who managed Rangers between 2018 and 2021.

We can’t see Lowe to Rangers
Rumours surrounding Lowe’s future are hardly ideal timing.
PNE lost 4-0 at the weekend and now face two daunting trips to Leicester City and Ipswich Town – the two teams above North End.
Fans are looking for a response from PNE and rumours linking Lowe with a move to Glasgow are just bad timing.
We can’t see this one happening though; Lowe has done exceptionally well this season but the jump in expectations at Rangers is huge.
The Gers went down the route of a Championship boss by landing Beale and it didn’t really work, so we can imagine them going for somebody with a bigger profile at a higher level.
If Rangers do come calling for Lowe, we couldn’t blame him for jumping at the chance; the Gers are a huge club with an enormous fanbase and European football on offer.
Any interest in Lowe should be seen as a big compliment after PNE’s start to the season but we would be surprised to see him move on any time soon, instead focusing on his project of trying to land a top-six finish with North End after an outstanding start to the campaign.
